E-LIT BOOKS, NEW E-PUBLISHING COMPANY IS FORMED
ENTRY FITS TREND OF LITERARY AGENTS FORMING PUBLISHING ARMS
DEDICATION TO FULL-SERVICE MARKETING EFFORT
(New York, NY – August 27th, 2013) - E-Lit Books is the latest entry into e-publishing. The company has been formed by literary agent Frances Black, who has also had a long career representing illustrators, and Debra Caruso, owner of DJC Communications, a New York City media relations firm.
E-Lit Books will publish primarily adult and YA fiction, but will also offer non-fiction titles. The company’s formation is part of a trend of agents becoming publishers - for both the authors they represent and others whose books are worthy.
“We have so many wonderful authors whose manuscripts are not getting attention from the big publishers, but that doesn’t mean they’re not writing great books,” said Black.
“We believe in writers. We’re committed to getting people published. It’s a natural fit for literary agents to want to get their best authors out there to have their work seen by the public. We’re not bypassing publishers, we’re working on two levels – to get authors published by the major houses, and if the stars don’t align that way, to get them to align in a new way,” Black added.
The firm’s strength, said Caruso, is its full-service dedication to marketing. “We know how to sell books and how to get publicity for them. This entity will offer authors a level of exposure that self-publishing will not, and in some cases, what big publishing houses just can’t accomplish for every author. Media relations, both social and traditional, will be the ‘it’ factor in our delivery system.”
Among the first titles to be offered by E-Lit books are:
